Of Restless Nature
Of Restless Nature is a performance by three female dancers, inspired by the hybrid sculptures of artist Germaine Richier.
It is a work born from a profound love for nature and all the creatures that inhabit it, where even the most fragile or invisible presence plays a role in the balance of the whole.
The parallel between women and insects becomes a poetic and ironic device to highlight the similarities shared by all living beings, while also evoking certain conditions linked to the female experience. Transformation and cyclicality emerge as elements common to every creature, flowing through bodies, identities, and forms of life.
The performance unfolds within an imaginary terrarium: a microcosm shaped by the creatures that inhabit it. This artificial ecosystem—enclosed yet constantly evolving—reflects our deep connection with the natural world, as well as our growing alienation from it. At the same time, this space recalls the domestic sphere, evoking the sometimes complex and ambivalent relationship between women and the home: a place of protection, but also of confinement.
Through a symbolic language that leaves room for humor, ambiguity, and paradox, Of Restless Nature touches on themes such as how we perceive the world, how we categorise life, and how we establish hierarchies among living beings.
